Independent Practice Week4:Space Pirate Ship Designs

Having done the research i began to understand how helpful it is in developing the design of your idea as taking real bits of information into your project will help to know more of that specific idea.    I started to carry on from the few basic designs that i had done by picking certain designs to further develop using the carrack as a basis. As well as further developing the designs that i had already done i started to introduce more of the sails and how they were placed or shaped.
I asked a few people on Facebook which design i should go with and out of the few that took time out to choose, this design was the most popular. So i went with this design as this was also the first one that i had done i expected this to be the chosen design. Developing the ship with more detail along with the mindset of the carrack as the basis i added three similar ship based sails. This spaceship design was based pretty much similar to the carracks design but adding the engines and the block, mechanical based shaping or the exterior to look more like the spacecrafts that have been created.
The next design that i had chosen was one which was more unique in the design. The design rather than the carracks three or four sailed ship, i went with the two sails. I went with two sails because i see the ships being automated where the sails would go into the ship. The ships design focuses on the overall shaping of the carrack but given a twist to look more mechanical, spacecraft design.
The final design i chose to go into detail was this submarine, carrack shaped spaceship. Seeing how the previous two designs that i had chosen to develop had been done as a more block, hard shape i went down the other route of having a more smooth ship shape. I went with three sails as i didn't want he amount of sails to be similar to other designs and give this particular design a standout area. With this design i wanted to create a smooth unique shape so that the ship is ahead of its time because the metal is more smooth, can form shapes that create a tough exterior.

This final image is of the ship i had chosen which is the second design, reason being is for its unique shape and the automated outlook of interior and exterior. I started off with the rooms taking shape of the spaceship but soon released that the perspective is much better and simpler to layout the objects within the room if the room is more four sided. Focusing more on the rooms, the actual forms of connection to the rooms was brought to my attention. So i had to think more about the overall rooms perspective and came up with most of the rooms being mirrored onto the other side of the ship but also introducing corridor's and elevators. Another problem that had popped up was the measurements of the ship as i don't usually add measurements to my ideas. Adding measurements to the ship i soon learned that they seemed much smaller and so had to go back and look into measurements, with the outcome being that my ships measurements are 240 metres long and 75 feet wide. The reason behind this is because the carrack itself was stated as a large ship for around 40-80 crew members and a largo cargo hold which fit my space pirate ship idea as these piraes would need large areas of space to store the treasure.
